On Thursday, December 17, Journey to Dream’s Director, Jessica Peter and several board members, were presented with a check for $3500 from The Shelter Fund. JTD helps hurting teens overcome adversities and are also working to establish the first shelter for homeless teens in Denton County. Because of a generous matching grant for 2015, this $3500 will become $7000.
Communities in Schools of North Texas was also presented with a check in the amount of $3500. Dana Smith, CISNT’s CEO and several of her board members were present to receive the check.
Communities in Schools surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
The Shelter Fund raises money to donate to non-profits that provide assistance to homeless people. John Fox, a Loan Officer with First Mortgage, believes in being part of the solution when it comes to assisting those desperately needing help with temporary housing. First Mortgage helps provide funds through The Shelter Fund. This money is awarded quarterly or as the proceeds allow.
