Safety is a top concern for men and women. Crime does not discriminate between genders. Be prepared and gain valuable tips to stay safe in the new year.
It is a great time to be a woman in business. The population of women in the workplace continues to grow. Although it remains a small percentage compared to our male counterparts, women run 25 companies in the Fortune 500. That is an overwhelming increase over twenty years ago when there were no female CEOs.
To continue on this path, it is important for women to have access to mentors and colleagues who uplift and encourage them to be there best. The Women’s Division, a division of the Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce, promotes and fosters this mentality by providing fellowship, inspiration, and professional development for women and a few smart men.
With 2016 just around the corner, the Women’s Division Committee has determined many of its events for the coming year. We invite and encourage you to join us at one or all of our upcoming events.
On the evening of Wednesday, January 27, 2016, the Women’s Division is partnering with Defensive Mindset to host “Staying Safe in 2016,” a two hour self defense course. Safety is a top concern for men and women. Crime does not discriminate between genders. Be prepared and gain valuable tips to stay safe in the new year.
The morning of Thursday, March 3, 2016, the Women’s Division will host its Women’s Health Panel. The event, sponsored by Medical Center of Lewisville, provides an open environment for ladies and gentlemen to ask health professionals questions or seek advice on illnesses and conditions that affect women. The event is not exclusive to women. Men have mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, colleagues, and friends. Men are encouraged to attend, ask questions and share the information with the women in their lives.
The State wide recognized annual Denton County Women Leading Business Conference & Expo is scheduled for Friday, April 1, 2016. The women’s conference features two inspirational keynote presentations, breakout sessions focused on providing business acumen, and an opportunity to network with other businessmen and women. Attendees walk away from the conference reenergized, uplifted and inspired. This is an event you will not want to miss.
Due to its success, the Women’s Division will host the Afternoon Tea again later this year. A date will be released soon. The committee is also finalizing details for a social happy hour and holiday market in the fall.
It will be an exciting and fun year. See you at a Women’s Division event soon.
